What Can I Use Instead Of Rizla?

Birra e riso transgenico

The GM rice was discovered in the brewer of Budweiser Bayer LL601. One of the varieties in 2006 that contaminated the U.S. rice stocks. Since then, the contamination was detected in approximately 30 percent of U.S. stocks. It caused a huge negative impact on the industry of U.S. rice: the transgenic rice was not approved, leading to the closing of foreign markets.

The Budweiser is one of the few beers that use rice as an ingredient. It is sold in 60 countries, is exported directly and locally produced thanks to appropriate licenses. Anheuser-Busch is the single largest buyer of U.S. rice, purchasing the 6-10 per cent of the entire U.S. production.

Greenpeace informed Anheuser-Busch the test results before publication and asked for clear information on the extent of contamination and its own policy about not using GM ingredients. Anheuser-Busch responded that the rice of Bayer is authorized in the U.S. and is not used for the production of beer for export. But the extent of the contamination remains a mystery.

The GE rice is not approved outside the U.S.. Greenpeace therefore believes that Budweiser produced with it can not be exported. Anheuser-Busch has to inform in detail about the level of contamination Rice used in the production of Budweiser in the U.S. and to clarify what measures will be taken to ensure that this beer does not reach the foreign market.
